How it all started
What started out as an enthusiast hobby of tinkering with electronics, and learning and repairing items for acquaintances and for myself. I've decided to branch out and help the vintage electronics community and others to help keep old machines and equipment running for years to come.
From an early age I've always been interested in computers, but also audio. Over the last 15 years I've been diving in to the electronics and component level aspect to these making repairs to my own devices as well as others in my circle.
With the resurgence of vintage computing and electronics over the last several years, it's become evident that there is a need to keep these machines up and running. There is something nostalgic and also pleasing to hear the sounds of a 20MB hard drive spinning and reading/writing to the disk, or even putting physical media that you own into a playback device and pressing the play button. That's something which streaming services can't replace.
For those who love hi-fi sound, big speakers, and stereo components as opposed to small sound bars or bluetooth speakers, it's just an experience that those devices cannot compare.
Keeping these things alive keeps them out of the trash with the hopes of having them for years to come. Admittedly I am guilty of throwing away such treasures such as the IBM PS/2 Model 50 that we got from a yard sale when I was little, and today I regret that because of the how scarce they have become and things you take for granted these days in the throw away society that we have largely become.
